Here are my top Spring shoe essentials:
1. A colorful flat
2. A pair of neutral TOMS or Bensimons
3. A metallic or saturated colored strappy flat sandal
4. A bold wedge – think printed or a pop of color
5. An edgy black shoe with lots of straps or lacing – think geometric lines, clean and modern, sexy
6. A girly, classic pump – printed or a neutral
Remember that a bright yellow, turquoise, red, or fuchsia shoe goes with just about any neutral and blue jeans. And experiment with color. Unusual color combinations are always fresh and interesting!
Edgy black shoes (they can be a lower or higher shoe, heel or wedge) add that right amount of edginess to spring/summer dresses or even jeans and a tank.
A girly pump can instantly take jeans or shorts and a tank or t-shirt from day to night!

We love to shop local & we love to represent local artists. Have you seen the wonderful hand-made leather and canvas handbags, clutches and wallets that we have in the shop right now?

 

Linda Fig recycled leather one -of-a- kind Jed handbags, mens & women’s wallets – Linda uses reclaimed leather (most recently leather once used to make clown shoes!) and pre-loved, reclaimed snaps to make pieces that will truly become lifelong friends! Her background as a printmaker and artist is prevalent in her handmade details, such as subtle hidden pockets in organic leaf shapes, hand-printed hang tags, and unusual constructions! She lets the piece of leather speak to her and her final design as she is crafting each piece. The array of different kinds of supple leathers in rich colours make her pieces unforgettable. They look like sculpture on the body!

Bandit hand-painted canvas clutches available in 3 versatile sizes  -  MaryEllen has impeccable craftmanship which is seen in her little utilitarian clutches that can be used for just about anything & everything! She constructs the canvas bags with contrasting details in leather, adds interesting bits like mini leather tags stamped with what looks to be a secret serial number, and adds carefully considered leather pulls and metal zippers. Her bags are painted with house paint, then washed, giving them a lovely patina! They dance on the line between masculine & feminine, and feel as though they are a nod to both minimalism and antiquity!

We are loving the quirky new bags and wallets from cheeky New Zealand designer Sharon Paris!

Her love of the avant-garde & conceptual art is seen through her tongue-in-cheek foiled text and illustrations found atop the supple, rich, colorful leathers of her clean, simple designs and can even be seen in her well-considered, minimal packaging with its “Very Concise History of Conceptual Art”, care instructions like, “Limit the amount of silly buggers you play”, and complimentary mini tub of leather preserver that reads, “What’s so wrong with taking care of each other?”…and her love of high quality (she comes from a family of fine jewelry designers & watchmakers) is felt in her soft, lovely leathers!

We are mad for a cognac clutch with neon citron and fuchsia details that reads “There’s so much TOFU in this miso soup that it’s almost filling” !!! (Perfect for our neighboring Essene Natural Food Market customers!)
